Philip Koch’s painting acquired by Maier Museum of Art
Philip Koch’s drawing Edward Hopper’s Studio, Truro, 2020, is acquired by the Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College in Lynchburg, VA. The vine charcoal drawing, 7 x 14 inches, is a study for Koch’s painting Edward Hopper’s Studio, Truro (below).
Koch was deeply influenced by Edward Hopper’s oil painting Mrs. Scott’s House, 1932, which depicts the rolling dunes adjoining the studio Hopper would build two years later. Hopper’s painting belongs to the Maier Museum’s permanent collection, as well.
