A new exhibition of works by American artist Greg Mort will be on display at Somerville Manning Gallery in Greenville, Delaware from November 8 – 30, 2024. In “A Winter’s Day” Mort once again explores, expands, and continues to challenge his artistic skills with the mastery of a new medium, pastel.
Mort is internationally recognized for his highly detailed watercolors and oils which are in prominent public and private collections around the world including the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and many more. Mort, the early leader in the “Art for Climate Justice” movement has used his artwork to focus attention on the Earth’s environmental crisis, beginning in 1991, with his first Stewardship painting. The Stewardship Collection now numbers over thirty works of art. In 2007 he co-founded The Art of Stewardship Project, a non-profit that supports and encourages artists to partner with conservation and educational organizations to build environmental awareness. In 2022 Mort was a featured artist in the Peabody Essex Museum’s Climate Challenge: Inspiring Change exhibition. That same year, the image of Greg Mort’s painting “One World” was selected for the United Nations and New York Climate Museum’s 2022 Earth Month exhibition in New York City at Rockefeller Center.
The Somerville Manning Gallery has represented Greg Mort’s artwork for over thirty years.
